Dental Cleanings in
Miami Lakes

Part of good oral hygiene involves regular teeth cleaning to remove dental plaque which accumulates on the teeth and develops into dental caries also known as cavities. Plaque buildup can also lead to periodontal disease and gingivitis. Regular cleaning helps maintain the health of both teeth and gums to prevent any future dental problems.

Here at All Dental Group we always recommend professional teeth cleaning every six months, although some of our patients may require cleaning three to four times a year.

Prophylaxis

Dental prophylaxis is an integral part of the maintenance of healthy teeth because it helps prevent gum disease, cavities, and loss of teeth from dental disease. Regular dental prophylaxis, in fact, is actually a preventive measure that could help you forego the need for tooth fillings.

Perio Maintenance

Some people think periodontal maintenance and prophylaxis to be one and the same, but they are not. Although both procedures do have a common goal: to keep teeth and gums free from problems. Prophylaxis is the removal of stain, calculus, and plaque from your tooth structures and is primarily preventive in nature. Prophylaxis is suitable for those with gingivitis with no active periodontal disease.

Perio maintenance is mainly therapeutic and removes bacterial calculus and plaque from subgingival and supragingival areas, scaling specific sites, root planing where required and polishing teeth to make it bright and shiny. While prophylaxis helps your oral cavity maintain its good health and stop any gum disease from progressing, perio maintenance takes care of making teeth shine and giving you fresh breath.

Full-Mouth Debridement

If your teeth have not been cleaned professionally for over 12 months, heavy buildup of tartar is likely to occur in certain areas in your mouth and makes a full mouth debridement necessary. This procedure is typically done using a machine called a Cavitron that removes tartar with intense jets of water pressure.

Scale and Root Planing

All Dental Group offers scale and root planing for eliminating and removing agents like dental plaque and calculus that cause inflammation to the gums which lead to gingivitis. When this happens, your periodontal health is compromised as a result of the bleeding, redness, and swelling of your gums.

If you value your oral health and if you want to avoid any painful and annoying teeth and gum problems in the future, make sure to get professional cleanings at least twice a year. If you live in or near Miami Lakes, Florida, schedule an appointment with All Dental Group by calling (305) 512-0066.
